About
Sarah Kopfer is a senior studying Computer Engineering with a minor in Engineering Corporate Practice at the University of Notre Dame, where she expects to graduate in 2025. Originally from Oconomowoc, WI, Sarah now lives off-campus.
On campus, Sarah is deeply involved in leadership and academic activities. She serves as the President of IrishSat and the Senior Director of Sponsorship for the Engineering Leadership Council, and she tutors as an ACES mentor. Additionally, she’s a TA for the Computer Architecture course and an active member of Club Tennis, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and Women in Computer Science (WICS).
Her research experience includes working with Professor Morrison to explore and improve space computing modules, focusing on RISC-V systems and High Performance Space Computing hardware from NASA’s JPL and Microchip. This collaboration aims to enhance the next generation of space systems.
Sarah has gained extensive work experience through various internships, including roles as an incoming Aerospace Systems Engineer for Blue Origin’s MK1 Lunar Lander, World Lead for Fem-Sat by Cadence, and Electrical Systems Engineering Intern at Blue Origin. Additionally, she has interned as a Systems Engineering & Validation Intern at Ford Motor Company, participated in IBM’s Accelerate Program for hardware development, and worked as a Software Development Intern at Splash Clinical LLC.
Her favorite IrishSat memory is traveling to New Mexico with Patrick to integrate and launch IRIS for NASA’s FLOATing DRAGON competition.
